David Otterman has been practicing law in Vermont for over 40 years, during which time he has conducted over 100 trials and hearings at every level of review in Vermont. Ten of these cases were argued before the Vermont Supreme Court and 13 were complete jury trials.
David is currently listed in the publication “Best Lawyers in America” under the Trusts and Estates heading and he has been given a Martindale-Hubbell Rating of “A.” He was a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council beginning in1994 and has served as ACTEC's Vermont state chair. He has served on an "as needed" basis as Special Council to the Judicial Conduct Board. David has been selected as a "New England Super Lawyer" in the area of Trusts and Estates.
David is a graduate of Norwich University (B.A. 1974). Upon graduation from Norwich, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Captain (Active Duty: 1974-78). Following his time in the Marine Corps, David attended Vermont Law School (J.D. 1981).
Over the years, David has coached both youth hockey and basketball teams in Central Vermont. He has been active in several local churches and regularly serves as a bass guitarist on the worship band. He is married to the former Karen Inkel of Barre, Vermont, and together they have two children and six grandchildren.
